Meet Lynsey Skinner

Hey, I’m Lynsey. I’m a multi-modal psychotherapist working with adults, teenagers and children navigating a range of life experiences, emotional difficulties, trauma, and those quieter moments when something just feels… off.

Before psychotherapy, I trained and worked as an actor. That world taught me a lot about human emotion, connection, and what it means to be seen - lessons that continue to shape how I practise therapy today. Creativity, imagination, and embodied awareness still sit at the heart of how I work.

Like many people, my own life hasn’t followed a neat narrative. The myth of the “perfect family” shifted early for me when my parents divorced when I was 11, and that experience sparked a lifelong curiosity about trauma, communication, and how we make sense of change. It doesn’t make me the expert on your experience, but it does mean that I am a big fan of therapy and continue to do my own hard work.

Many of the people I work often appear 'fine' on the outside - competent, successful, coping - they're Olympians, CEOs, busy parents, engineers, NHS staff. But internally things feel pressured, emotionally heavy, or hard to articulate. Therapy becomes a place where you don’t have to hold it all together.

My approach combines evidence-based psychotherapy, including CBT and EMDR, Dramatherapy, sound therapy, and nervous system-focused work. That means we can be practical when needed, creative when words aren’t enough, and always paced to feel safe rather than overwhelming.
I’m known for (and proud of) creating psychological safety, the kind where honesty feels possible without pressure, where exploration can happen gently, and where you don’t need to arrive polished or certain.

And if you’re unsure about therapy? That’s completely welcome too. You don’t need perfect words or a crystal clear goal. Curiosity is more than enough to start.
